Hi, I’m Elishema, a soulful R&B-Pop singer-songwriter turned music mentor.
For over two decades, I’ve lived the ups and downs of being a working vocal artist — the big wins, the disappointments, and the lessons that shaped me into the artist and entrepreneur I am today.
Like many singers, I once thought the only path to success was finding the “right” producer or manager. But after being taken advantage of more than once by people promising to help my career while serving their own interests, I decided to take control of my future.
With my father’s support, we started Inway Records, our own independent label — and that single decision changed everything. I learned firsthand how to release music, perform internationally, license songs, and make real income from my talent without gatekeepers.
That’s how Insightful Singer was born — a place for singers who want to do the same.
Why I Created Insightful Singer
I’ve seen too many talented singers give up because of shady deals, lack of guidance, or confusion about how the music business really works.
I know how discouraging it can feel when you’re putting in the work, but nothing seems to move forward.
I built Insightful Singer as a resource hub for singers — a space where you can learn how to make money singing and grow your career without waiting for someone’s permission.
My goal is simple:

My Journey So Far
From performing on stages across the U.S. and abroad to building a home studio business that’s reached producers worldwide, I’ve experienced the music world from many sides — performer, songwriter, session singer, and businesswoman.
Over the years, I’ve:
- Earned over $10,000 from one online platform alone as a Top-Rated Studio Pro on Airgigs, with more than 65 five-star reviews.
- Worked with professional producers across Spain, Germany, Australia, and the U.K.
- Released two albums and several singles.
- Licensed my music to Universal Music Group and placed songs in TV, radio, and ad campaigns — including a Honda commercial.
- Had songs in rotation on Sirius XM and charted on the DRT Global Top 100 Independent Airplay Chart (#43).
- Opened for Chaka Khan, Frankie Beverly & Maze, and performed alongside many legendary artists.
- Was mentored by Marshall Thompson of The Chi-Lites.
- Won a City of Chicago DCASE grant to attend the APAP conference.
Every milestone and misstep has taught me something valuable — lessons I now share with singers who are serious about turning their passion into a sustainable, fulfilling career.
